Introduction
What is the current state of homelessness in America currently? Homelessness is among the complicated issues that are present in society. In most cases, legislators suggest a single-dimensional resolution to such complicated problems. As a result, the issue of homelessness should be handled with the approach of interdisciplinary. To get a suitable solution for homelessness issue, there is a need for attention in the entire discipline as well as much concentration on any applicable specialty. The homeless individuals undergo a lot of challenges to acquire as well as maintain living quarters with limited resources. From the perspective of sociology, stressors like drug addiction, mental illnesses that are not treated, along with domestic violence, are the main contributors to homelessness (Bradley, McGowan, & Michelson, 2018). There are some of the things that homelessness is expected to cope with, and these include the shortage of within your means housing, lack of employment, and poverty.
The homelessness problem is a 21st-century issue that is essential. It predicts what are its major causes and its effects on society. In most cases, the main causes of homelessness include family violence, discrimination in the family, mental illness, and poverty, among others. In America, most of the families that are faced with homelessness issue have children, and they become affected in future. Most such children, as well as youths, are affected by severe trauma, hence making their relationship changed. As a result, their health, as well as safety, are put at risk along with obstructing their development. There is a high likelihood of children to have physical as well as mental challenges, thus experiencing malnutrition and hunger. Most of these children never perform well in their studies, and this affects the future of the society since some of them may have the ability to become prominent people in the community, but the level of education limits them. Youth become disadvantaged because they may be exposed to sexual activities, and they end up being infected with overwhelming diseases like HIV along with other severe problems in terms of their health.
The interdisciplinary approach can be used to solve this problem in various ways. The method is used to offer advice to the victims, and through this, the families can recover. Is also provide some solutions to complex issues such as homelessness and save the life of the affected children hence saving the future of the society.
Literature Review
Method and Procedures
This review uses a qualitative approach to determine how an interdisciplinary approach can be used to solve the homelessness problem. The analysis used 100 participants from the University of Yale and all were students who took part in the experiment since it was part of classwork. Their age ranged from 20 to 25 years, and they all paid attention to the classwork (Balaban, 2018). The students were asked to sit in groups of five, and the researcher gives them a questionnaire to attend that had different questions about homelessness in the society, its effects, and how it can be solved. The students were expected to use the interdisciplinary approach to answer the questions, and when they completed, they were asked to interchange the paper for each group to see what the rest had written. The whole process took one hour, and after going through the article, they are asked to discuss together.
Findings
The homelessness problem is essential because Americans can know the state of their society and the number of people who are facing the homelessness challenge. Homelessness is an issue that can cause significant difficulties to the community is they are not appropriately handled. The rate of homelessness in America is increasing every year, and if the government does not take precautions, the whole nations are likely to face some challenges in future. After performing the experiments, the result is that the interdisciplinary approach is a suitable way of solving homelessness challenge. If the approach can be applied by the government, the rate at which homelessness issues are increasing can be solved in a short period, hence causing a decrease in the number.
One way this approach can be used to solve the homelessness problem is by advancing the people who are undergoing the challenge. The homeless individuals need clear advice since almost all of them are affected emotionally and physically (Chau & Gass, 2018). Some are not able to cope with the situation, and as a result, they end up committing suicide because they lack the need for existence. Interdisciplinary studies also help in ways of approaching children who are faced with this problem since they are the most affected, and providing a solution becomes a secure way (Dean, Williams, Donnelly & Levett-Jones, 2017). For example, the children are faced with trauma problem, health challenges, and their family relationship is always affected.
Additionally, the studies equip people with various solutions to solve this problem. The government may create several jobs opportunities especially for youths to keep them engaged, and this will help them to avoid some issues such as early pregnancies, HIV/AIDs, drug abuse, as well as other health risk problems (Repko, Szostak & Buchberger, 2019). With jobs, people can cater for the house rent hence minimizing the rate of homelessness in America. If the interdisciplinary approach can be utilized properly, the future effects of homelessness in the society can be reduced. For example, the children who have the ability to be successful in future will have a chance of performing well and achieve their goals in future.
Conclusion
The interdisciplinary approach plays an essential role in solving a homelessness problem. In this case, the method helps in providing advice to the affected people, and provide solutions to the issue. Homelessness exposes people to various issues which might be hard to recover from with assistance from the government or potential families. Therefore, the thought-provoking question, in this case, is what the American government can do to minimize the rate of homelessness in the country in three years to come?
