Introduction
Obesity in children is a significant issue that is affecting a significant section of society with children in the United Starts having excess weight than is desired. The problem is causing many issues in society, such as straining the health sector and a rise in death rates since the excess body weight leads to the immune system becoming weak. It is crucial to undertake a study on this topic to ensure that a solution is obtained to manage the issue. The hypothesis raised is that the problem emanates from poor eating habits and lifestyle issues that include lack of exercise. It is critical to conduct a study on the causes of the extra body weight, and this will help in undertaking measures that will help in alleviating the problem in society.
Background
The excess body weight issue is an issue that is caused by nutritional disorder among young people in the United States. The condition raises the chances of cardiovascular problems and death, and this necessitates the need to manage the problem to protect future generations. The significance of undertaking this study is to ensure that there is adequate information on the causes of obesity and the programs that can be adopted to manage the problems. In some cases, people find themselves overweight, and they fail to understand that their lifestyle is a contributing factor (Pandita et al., 2016). Additionally, they may be willing to follow the right measures to control the issue but lack the details on the programs to follow.
Research Questions
- Some of the research questions that can be raised regarding childhood obesity include;
- What is the clinical evidence that is raised regarding children obesity prevention?
- Is there a correlation between a lack of physical activities and obesity in children?
- Does lowering the consumption of fatty foods help in lowering obesity incidences?
The hypothesis raised in this case relates to factors that are thought to influence the human body weight. It states that the chances of being overweight are related to socio-demographic features, such as material education, gender, genes, and race.
Research Questions
Based on the hypothesis raised above, the main question that can be raised in this case determines whether the race, and education levels play a role in the rising levels of child obesity in the United States. It is an issue that requires deeper understanding to ensure that there are clear details on the real cause of the overweight issue. The study query will play a critical role in guiding a researcher on the views to consider in the study process to help in running the various study process and unearth the right materials in the research activity. There is a need to conduct the study and remain within the question raised to ensure that the information collected is relevant and in line with the desired area of investigation.
Hypothesis
It is often argued that the food that people consume is a prevalent issue leading to obesity in children. These are claims that must be supported with evidence to ensure that the assertions are accepted as true. Additionally, it is also argued that the lack of exercises and race highly contributes to the problem at hand though all these statements should be supported with facts. The researcher should be on child obesity causes and the measures that can be initiated to help in curbing the menace. The null hypothesis (H0) state that the child obesity is due to overeating, consumption of foods high in fat level, and lack of exercise. According to Schalkwijk et al. (2015), different management measures should be undertaken that should help in ensuring that children obesity problems are handled in the right way.
Identifying
The study variables that are highlighted in this case include children that will form the study group. There will be a determination of the amount of time that they take playing or exercising and the nutritional contents in the foods that they consume. Additionally, there will be a consideration of their race, for it can be argued that the ethnic background is also playing a role in the rising cases if overweight children (Karki, Shrestha, & Subedi, 2019). The variable will be categorized as either dependent elements that tend to change due to experimental manipulation, and they are often regarded as a presumed effect. The independent variables are the elements that are unaffected, stable, and they are not influenced by the changes of other items in the study process, and they are often regarded as a presumed cause.
Operationalize Variables
The process of defining and measuring variables is essential in facilitating a study process. When determining the weight that is suitable for a child, the Body mass index (BMI) should be used in determining their average height and the right body weight. The variables that will be used in this case will also cover the ethnic background of individual, and it is critical to ensure that the study process has covered the race of the study participants.
