Introduction
Mental health care is becoming more critical in the health care sector due to the increasing numbers of psychiatric disorders and a low number of mental health care workers. During personal interactions with some mental health care employees, I realized that most of the patients with psychological symptoms are often advised to contact the employee assistance program. However, the strategy fails since there is already an inevitable stigma in seeking assistance. The reluctance is mainly due to the lack of presence of an employee assistance program clinician with vast experience in this noble occupation (Boamah et al., 2018). Consequently, the concerns dramatically suppress the count of relatable mental health care practitioners; thus, as a concerned and trusted partner, I intend to bring change through the intervention of a working philosophy.
Philosophy
Core Values
According to Boamah et al., (2018), open-mindedness, compassion, education, innovation, and perseverance are core values that need to be strictly followed. For instance, staying open-minded to various situations and people cultivate the value of viewing problems from a distinct perspective, not necessarily your own. Nonetheless, the ability to overcome the challenges through perseverance from almost every negative factor while still maintaining compassion for the people around you is a fundamental core value that needs to be embraced and taught continuously to other generations.
For ages, innovation and education have formed the basis on which perseverance is built; the two core values are vital to understanding why different individuals tend to think the way they do hence providing a range of solutions that can be used to assist good individuals out of seemingly bad situations. When Cummings et al., (2018 ) participated in the Gallop interview, the outcome had a close connection to strengths: a learner, relator, a developer, ability to maintain focus, and ability to maintain responsibility.
Mission Statement
To assist in the recovery of mental health victims through mental health care and psychiatry
Strength Assessments
Strength 1: Efficiently Supporting Others
Supporting others is essential, particularly to comprehensively comprehend how other individuals feel. By strengthening the supportive behavior, I will enhance the virtue of authenticity and being sincere with those around me. In turn, my colleagues and everyone in the workplace can develop trust in me, further inspiring and assisting them to overcome their challenges while realizing their dreams.
Strengthening supportive behavior also creates cohesion and teamwork among colleagues. In most cases, a leader staying supportive means that as a leader, one takes an active role in ensuring that a task is completed rather than just giving directions (Cummings et al., 2018). In the process, a leader can listen to the team's recommendations and suggestions that could be beneficial to the organization.
Strength 2: Seeking Different Perspectives
The ability to maintain humility as a leader and seek for various perspectives of people concerning a given issue is another critical behavior that I will need to strengthen. The behavior is crucial to leaders who are dedicated to monitoring the various kinds of trends that affect the organization (Cummings et al., 2018). Being able to seek different perspectives as a leader will allow me to track the changes that occur within the organization's environment. Nonetheless, acknowledging varied perspectives to a certain challenge by the colleagues encourages the employees to consistently contribute ideas that can be implemented to enhance the organization's performance. Moreover, it will improve my ability to distinguish between non-important and essential issues within the organization accurately.
Personal Vision
As a passionate partner in the profession, I aim to reach all the medical professionals and civil service in the nation suffering from mental disorders. Within a time frame of ten years, Marshall, 2010 envisioned enhancing the safety of the public by significantly suppressing the number of uncontrolled psychiatric disorders. As a result, the maintenance of compliance, and the elimination of preventable suicide deaths is achieved with relative ease.
Achievement Plan
According to Marshall 2010, attending regular meetings with the healthcare team and local agencies across the selected region is key to ensuring that I achieve the set goals. Furthermore, sparing adequate time to cease the available local volunteer opportunities, and being more active in both the nation’s and local political campaigns will significantly enhance the chances of achieving the goals. Moreover, critically developing and passing valuable knowledge in mental health, psychiatry, self-care, and peer assessment will enormously help in ensuring that everyone is made aware of the possible impacts of mental disorders and how to respond to them (Boamah et al., 2018). Nevertheless, to oversee that the plan is successful, I will devote myself to aiding society in managing emotional, physical, and mental disorders.
I will consistently utilize and promote the use of high-quality, evidence-based practice, and peer-reviewed research. The application of evidence-based practice and peer-reviewed research, in conjunction with a careful selection of relevant qualifications, will dramatically assist in making effective and affordable psychiatric services available to everyone within the community (Marshall, 2010). Furthermore, my devotion will gradually proceed to expand and address the crucial telepsychiatry programs that are being introduced nationwide, mainly designed to cater to the needs of everyone with mental health disorders.
