Introduction
Corruption has, over the years, been the biggest problem facing third world countries. Persistent cases of bribery have lowered the development rate of these countries, as most of the funds are st by government officials in these countries (Amundsen,7). Citizens in these countries face high taxes as the governments have no other form of generating income as structures for creating income have not been established. Levels of crime, amongst other social injustices, are high as citizens seek alternatives to get profit due to lack of employment(Baah-Boateng 8). On the other hand, the quality of education offered is also low s governments lack enough funds to establish better-quality education systems. Social workers often strike due to delayed payments or, at times, lack of cash over several months. Lack of funds forces these countries to rely on foreign aid and loans from other counties.
Consequently, during such pandemics such as the current COVID-19, countries lack emergency funds to help their citizens as most of the revenues are used in recurrent expenditures, and payment of loans cannot hence save emergency funds. Governments should ensure that corrupt government officials are put behind bars and return the stolen funds. Heavy punishment such as lengthy jail terms to serve as examples to others engaging in the same. Funds should be excluded for emergencies to ensure that they can be able to sustain themselves during emergencies to avoid dependency on other developed countries. Therefore, corrupt governments currently in office should be put out of service immediately. Other honest individuals elected for the work as leaving them in office will give them a chance to continue stealing funds and economically bullying the citizens since they will be taxed more with the current state of unemployment(Benedict& Tochukwu, 11).
Evaluation of the Change
Additionally, lots of effort from the citizens, International humanitarian bodies such as the UN and international law by the ICC. Foreign bodies should create awareness to these citizens on the current financial and social problems created by the corrupt officials as this will help them understand the issue at hand and how their involvement and actions can help eradicate the problem (Cazacu, Meri &Crudu, 2). However, during the change, there will be a scuffle as the officials will refuse to go down. Therefore, the rights of these citizens should be protected by the international humanitarian bodies to ensure that they are not hurt and their agendas considered. The ICC should also come to play to ensure that the corrupt officials are prosecuted and pay for the wrong and troubles they caused their citizens and act as an example to other corrupt leaders. Eventually, the involvement of international humanitarian bodies is only limited to the membership of these countries in the organizations. Citizens also tend to fear taking action because of the punishment they receive if at all it fails(Jemadu, 3)
