Latino immigration is a trivial issue that has been there for some time now. Since1986 when the Immigration Reform and Control Act was enacted, regularizing approximately 3 million undocumented Latin American immigrants, there has been a radical transformation (Vásquez, 2009). There has been a precedented growth in the number of Latinos in various regions, such as New York, Texas, and New Jersey, among others. The high rate of growth among Latino is both complex and diverse, with the enactment of the IRCA being the primary issue. The legalization led to the saturation of the job market in various regions since it gave them more freedom to move and seek jobs. Besides, it led to the stricter regulations at the US-Mexico border. The politics of Latino Immigration has become an issue of concern due to its high rate of growth and becoming the largest minority group in the US (Vásquez, 2009). Besides, the population is rapidly growing, and the population is taking up jobs available in the market.
One of the articles that provide critical information is "The Politics of Immigration: Introduction to a Special Issue on US Immigration," authored by Jonathon W. Moses and published in 2009. The article narrates the political tide and how it affects the Latino immigrants and their employability as the government changes. The resource further addresses the issue of immigration reforms to control the border entry in a bid to deal with terrorists. The growing influence of the Latinos is yet another issue that the resource addresses to unravel the significance and the magnitude of the issue. Hence, by addressing the issues affecting Latino immigrants, the resource is appropriate for use in the study. The second resource is, “Latino immigration and representation in local politics," authored by Rocha and Matsubayashi and published in 2013 by Urban Affairs Review. The third article is “Latino Immigration in the South: Emerging Trends and Critical Issues. Florida: Jesuit Social Research Institute," which addresses the issues on the origin of Latino immigration. The fourth article is
When searching the sources, what was in my mind was the sources that will discuss the politics of the Latino Immigration and also be relevant and up-to-date. I made the choice of the above articles because they address the political issues surrounding Latino immigration.
Principles of Politics and the Issue
Principles of politics that apply to the Latino immigration issue include the historical principle, policy principle, and institution principle. The historical principle is relevant to Latino immigration since it reminds how people got where they. According to Vásquez (2009), the Latino settlement was reprimanded by the ICRA legalization that assured them jobs in the regions. The institution principle explains that political behaviors acquire incentives from the political institutions hence shaping the structure of politics. For instance, the politicians enact laws to protect the border and come up with laws on how to deal with specific issues. In respect to the Latino immigration issue, the US Congress enacted laws to regulate border entry and secure the Homeland Security (Moses, 2009). Through the immigration policy, the US Congress controls the growing Latino population.
Under the policy principle, the policy issues on electoral voting, as well as personal political actors' issues, are filtered out. For instance, the representation of Latino voting interests has been an issue of significance among scholars and politicians. The Latino population consist of both noncitizens and citizens and achieve varying favorable and unfavorable policy outcomes. Hence, due to their increment over the years, the issues of equality and their representation in the government is an issue of great concern (Rocha & Matsubayashi, 2012).
Audience
The political group is the one best suited to receive the message on the Latino immigration within the United States. The group would receive the maximum benefit from the issue since it profoundly affects the political class, and they are the most suited to address the issue. The issue of immigration purely lies under the docket of the politicians who can enact laws to regulate their migration behavior and their treatment within the country.
Communication the Message to the Audience
Communication of the message to the political class is an easy task because the group is elite and can understand the political science terms. For instance, the committee dealing with the issue of immigration would t]be the ideal place to start presenting the ideas on Latino immigration. A personal encounter with the committee would provide the most appropriate and efficient way of communicating the message one on one with the politicians involved.
Conclusion
Based on the trivial issue on Latino immigration, I would i9ke to gain more insight about the issue specifically on how their population is likely to affect the future political outlook. Hence, the research question is: Is the Latino population going to increase rapidly in the future, and if that is the case, are politicians going to change their outlook on Latinos taking advantage of their voting might?
A political scientist would investigate the research question in several ways. To investigate the research question, political scientists can use the questionnaires and the interview to query the politicians about their views about the issue.
