Introduction
Gun control is essential to prevent it from landing into unauthorized hands. Controlling guns helps in reducing criminal activities and protect citizens from causing harm to society. The position in gun control is to ensure that the laws on this aspect have to be implemented for security enhancement. The United States, however, has a higher number of guns that are owned by individuals in the communities, and holding a weapon over the past years was identified as being in the tradition of the colonial history and frontier expansion. In a free state, however, individuals are allowed to keep the guns for their security. However, many believe that owning guns helps in detecting criminal activities rather than increasing them. Gun control, however, is critical to ensure that security measures are enhanced and should be supported by the gun owners.
The reasons for enacting laws on gun control are to reduce violent crimes by protecting citizens from foreign invaders, promote education on the use of guns to stop accidental deaths that can be experienced, and preventing suicides in the community (Gun control law, 2019). Foreign invaders tend to cause harm to the citizens and hinder them from exercising their rights. However, with proper enactment of regulations, the citizens are supposed to protect themselves with guns without causing deaths and further harm to society. When guns are too many in the community, then various criminal cases will take place, and through enacting the law, then guns can be controlled and used for the intended objectives. Protecting citizens from foreign invaders through acquiring weapons is vital to ensure security measures for all people and self-defense. It helps people to survive in case of dangers when there is no alternative to wining on crimes.
Education is vital for citizens to know how to use guns. When arms are not used properly, then it can cause death to innocent people. Therefore for an individual to have a weapon, they need to have the necessary experience and can be able to handle it effectively. Guns can cause a lot of problems when handled inappropriately, and it is essential to enhance its efficiency (Wikipedia, 2018). Education is vital for proper measures and awareness for the citizens. It also makes people be prepared once there is a need to protect themselves. Accidental deaths occur when a person aims the gun at a criminal but wrongfully kills another person in the process of the attack. This is reduced through proper education techniques.
Acquiring guns in society is not entirely appropriate since many people can commit suicide in the process. Therefore, individuals under stress and depression need to be given help. For instance, people buying guns in shops have to state their reason for buying, and this reason has to be evaluated to ascertain that it is realistic. Moreover, before guns are given to the citizens, then they need to be given a specific time frame before they acquire, and protocols have to be followed in the process. A time frame or delayed possession of guns will help reduce suicide cases.
Gun control, however, is not sufficient since guns kill a few people, and it hardly increases criminal activities, and it does not prevent criminals from obtaining weapons. Illegal activities, however, will not reduce with guns being controlled in society. Guns do not kill many people in contemporary communities but rather other causes like being killed by knives and other objects. Moreover, Gun control does not increase criminal activities since their different strategies that the criminals take in carrying out their activities. Criminals, however, with gun control, cannot prevent them from owning guns as they usually steal government-owned and improvised weapons. Criminals can obtain guns when they want to through stealing, and gun control will not prevent that.
The biases experienced in the reasons for the positions taken are that crime rates are too many to solve them through gun control, and the implementation is too slow to be undertaken. The implementation program is reluctant to change. The process is time-consuming. The biases, however, against gun control are that guns create revenue for the government, and the protocols hardly function (Guncontrol, 2018). When the protocols rarely operate, then gun control is hard to monitor. The effects of group identification that influenced the biases are the need to reduce the criminal acts in the communities through effective and appropriate measures. Having too much belief in change has affected the preferences of having the certainty of solving problems in society.
In playing the believing game, the aspect of gun control has not changed since citizens need to be safe and protected from various issues. The game shades path for effective strategies that can be implemented to ensure efficiency in gun control measures. Gun control, however, aims to protect the women and children from domestic abuse and stalkers. Moreover, the act of allowing people to use guns in terms of self-defense minimizes the safety of the individuals as people will be looking to fight back and assume to be self-defense.
Conclusion
However, the fact lies that having more gun control laws will help in reducing the gun deaths experienced in societies. Controlling guns rarely causes an increase in rates but rather the aspect of gun ownership. Through checking weapons and verifying by the law, however, is termed as an invasion of privacy but helps in reducing violence and crime rates.
