Gun control refers to rules and regulations that are involved in making selling and possession of guns or by unauthorized persons. The issue of gun control has been a controversial one in the United States for decades, raising many complex arguments both against and supporting (Tatalovich et al., 2019). It leads to cases of violence if not restricted to whom the firearms are possessed. However, in the United States, gun policy is one of the most controversial policies with uncountable cases of gun violence shocking many people. In most nations, there are restrictions on who is to own firearms and under what condition. In 1983, a study showed that out of the 50 states in the United States, only six states had strict gun laws leading to low cases of suicide rates compared to the nations with fewer restrictions of gun laws with high chances of suicide reported (Tatalovich et al., 2019). Gun violence is an issue to humans globally, which threatens the human right to life. According to research, over 500 people die daily because of the misuse of firearms by both authorized and unauthorized owners. Anyone can be affected by the violence. Still, it is was noted that most affected are the communities of colour, marginalized groups in the society, and women (Ritchie and Andrea, 2017). In 1968 gun control act was passed as a bill in the United States, which affected the wild at large since the country was the seller of firearms worldwide. Firearms led to the loss of man innocent lives worldwide. It is clear to many that gun control remains an issue to control.
Worldwide gun control is a case of impact on many. Most of the time, nations have authorized ownership of firearms to even those who never meet the qualification set by the gun control laws leading to gun violence in the societies (Tatalovich et al., 2019). At times even most serial people have lost their lives, preventing them from giving truth of the cases affecting the government, especially terrorism or corruption cases that have already taken place. According to the study, it is reasonable to emphasize on the restriction of the firearms owning by the individual and followup done to those authorized to have on how they make use of them (Ritchie and Andrea, 2017). Gun shooting has become a severe case in schools in America, with many innocent students die over a year for no reason, which affects the country progress for such innovative young youths to pass before putting their creative ideas into action. However, gun control is the best way to curb this issue under a severe restriction of gun-owning.
Restriction to have firearms by the government will reduce the suicide cases witnessed on day to day worldwide. No matter the outcomes of gang violence, shooting deaths, and crime, others feel that enacting strict gun control will be against constitutional rights. The gun lobby groups in the United States are compelling. In the argument, there would be an increase in criminal cases by taking firearms from the law-abiding citizens to protect themselves and their partners from the criminals (Ritchie and Andrea, 2017). Beyond, the opponent argues that taking of guns open more sound room to civilians for the criminals takes would take another step to make use of sharp bladed weapons like knives. However, more restrictions need to be enhanced to control the issues arising from gun violence by putting more force on how and why it is the limitation to keep those owning the weapons in the streets without needs for keeping.
Stringent restrictions on the ease of access to buy firearms in the streets of the United States, which is the most weapon equipped worldwide, will control the illegal keeping of the guns in other countries. Those who buy the guns illegally and export them to other countries to sell to the gun lobby groups will be reduced, thus reducing the suicidal deaths by gun violence in the world. Arguments further show that to restrict illegal own of a gun, should be ordering the police to take arms from people in the streets keeping them without a legal permit and put the owners in custody and ensure they face the law. Furthermore, there are controversies related to gun control (Tatalovich et al., 2019). The biggest of all being mental illness and it's one of the cases that should not own weapons. It is highly rated that most cases of shooting massacres are publicized with mental illness. However, there is a simple mental illness that can not be related to such dangers but, to another extent, they should not be authorized in any way to keep a gun even if at some point they usually relate with others. For the medical forms to be admitted to an individual with a killer history is an issue since there predictions of violence and should not own firearms together with those with criminal records. Such cases need close follow up even if not in a position of any weapon.
In conclusion, despite gun control, it is argued that it still to be addressed. It seems not to solve the problem of gun control. It is evidenced that if restrictions are made, the criminal shall make another step to make use of bladed weapons like knives to continue with violent crimes (Cook et al., 2020). Following this reason, it is evident that gun control is most effective in the United States in reducing violence and suicide. Given this evidence, it becomes clear that gun control is the only most effective way to reduce gun violence and suicide in the united states.
Lobby and gang violence as exceeded the limits in the United States thus and immediate action needed. Therefore, gun control needs quick implementation to reduce shooting in learning institution where many youths are the victims. Gun control will reduce the number of guns in the streets and give the police some power to maintain law and order by being only the most authorized gun owners in the states (Cook et al., 2020). At the same time, the more powerful weapons should be restricted and only used by the government under a difficult situation when need be.
